Garden Route
This magnificent stretch of coastline encompasses the mountains, rivers, lagoons, lakes, beaches, and the indigenous forests. Scattered throughout are picturesque coastal towns – of these Knysna and Plettenberg Bay are the most well-known and popular amongst tourists. The region is the perfect place to relax and enjoy all the outdoor activities that the mountains, coastline, beaches, forests and waterways provide.

For golfers the Garden Route is pure paradise as this short stretch of coastline contains over 10 golf courses, all of which in beautiful settings with approximately 5 of them being rated in the country’s top ten courses.

The towns that we would recommend that you stay at would be along the Garden Route are:-

Knysna
Developed on the banks of a navigable lagoon, Knysna derivesits name a name of the ship owned by George Rex who according to local legend was the exiled son of King George III and who was responsible for developing much of the town. Today Knysna’s uniqueness lies in its people and vibrant cultural life. A walk around town will reveal a treasure trove of interesting people and unusual places.



Plettenberg Bay
Originally a whaling station Plettenberg Bay is now South Africa’s premiere seaside destination and playground for the rich. This coast of lagoons, rivers and 12 km of white beaches was originally named by early sailors ‘Bahia Formosa’ which is Portuguese for “beautiful bay”. The village is perched on a sandstone cliff that overlooks the lagoon and coastline.
