Praslin Island is said to be “…somewhat quieter, and less developed than Mahe, but boasts an exotic paradise of dense vegetation.” The island is rich with history as it was 100 years ago that General Gordon of Khartoum visited Praslin and thought he’d found the original Garden of Eden. To say the least, this island is teeming with exquisite wildlife and plants, a most picturesque and scenic habitat. Coconuts grow off the numerous palm trees, orchids are everywhere, fish are plentiful, and some of the rarest birds such as the Seychelles bulbul black parrot, and the fruit pigeon can all be found on Praslin. However, the island is most famous for its soft, sandy white beaches, especially Anse Lazio that has been voted one of the world’s best beaches and continues to earn this label year after year. Visitors can either hire a bicycle, rent a car, or hire a taxi to maneuver around this beautiful island. Praslin is known for its leading tourism industry and traditions of hospitality.
