The North Coast and Zululand offer the visitor a wonderful
mix of experiences – wildlife, wilderness, cultural, historical, sporting
activities and relaxation. This region is the traditional home of the Zulu
people and visitors are able to learn about their rich culture and fascinating
history. The Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve is one of the country’s
largest wildlife reserves, it was here that the white rhino was
brought back from the brink of extinction - excellent game viewing opportunities
exist.
The coastline is almost totally unexploited with miles and
miles of
untouched beaches offering the best scuba diving and fishing opportunities
in country. Some awesome golf courses have been developed along
this coastline making the area very attractive to golfers. There
is the highly rated Zimbali course and Prince's Grant.
Lake St. Lucia Wetland Park
Lake St. Lucia and its adjacent Marine Reserve are so ecologically
important that they have been declared a World Heritage Site. Here
you can tour the St. Lucia estuary by boat, learning about the
sensitive ecosystem making up this area, view the abundant
birdlife and fearsome hippos at close range.
