Okavango
Botswana is dominated by two main geographic features. About 85% of Botswana is comprised of the Kalahari Desert, a living desert which supports some of the largest herds of game on the continent. The second is the Okavango Delta which is dramatically different to the Kalahari. The Okavango carries 95% of Botswana’s ground water and is the world’s largest inland delta.

Each summer, floods pour down from the highlands of Angola into the Okavango River and flow on through a vast network of narrow waterways, lagoons and broad expanses of the Okavango Delta. The water makes its way through this huge, 10 000 square kilometres of flood plain and dissipates in the sands of the Kalahari. The Okavango Delta is frequently called a swamp, but mostly its waters are beautifully clear and blue. The delta experience is totally unique and offers some of the most prolific and spectacular wilderness areas and game experiences in Africa, set in unparalleled scenic beauty.

The luxury of the camps and the sheer remoteness of the delta make it relatively expensive destination however it is a truly unique and unforgettable experience and highly recommended, time and budget allowing.
