Madagascar

Why to go…

This extraordinary island, 4th largest in the world, drifted away from the mainland of Africa some 160 million years ago, creating a gigantic treasure trove of spectacular natural wonders. Today this land, frozen in time, boasts a diversity of culture, fauna and flora found nowhere else in the world. It is home to 5 percent of the world’s plant and animal species, 80 per cent of them unique to Madagascar. Madagascar offers diverse and spectacular scenery: mountains, deserts, rainforests, dazzling beaches fringing the Indian Ocean and island archipelagos linked by coral reefs and clear turquoise waters. Madagascar is unique destination that offers fantastic tropical holidays as well as inland excursions for those that want more adventure.

When to go…

Madagascar enjoys a good time for travelling with the exception of January to March, where heavy rainfalls must be expected. The coolest period is the dry season from May to October, making April and October/November the best time to travel.
