West Coast

Popular islands include Flic-en-flac and Tamarin Bay, which is known for its surfing. Visitors can kayak along the river and hope to spot dolphins. Walking through Black River Gorge, the largest nature park in Mauritius, allows tourists to view indigenous forests and endemic plants, as well as rare bird species. In Le Morne, view the magnificent mountain, which tells of ancient stories, and its crystal clear lagoon or take part in Le Morne’s most popular sport, kite surfing. Take a guided walk at the Martello tower of La Preuneuse or enjoy the colourful birds from all over the world at Casela Park. The Yemen Reserve holds herds of deer and other animals. Rustic kiosks provide amazing views of the ocean.
