Memorable travel experiences
Eating a sit-down dinner right on the edge of Victoria Falls, on Livingstone Island, under the moonbow.
Watching the sunrise from the top of Dune 45, Sossusvlei, seeing the dunes being painted orange by the sunlight at dawn.
A two-night dhow trip in Lamu, Kenya, camping on atolls and braaiing freshly caught red snapper.
Seeing the Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda. Hard to describe this experience, and the jungle vistas are just breathtaking.

WALLIE DU TOIT
As early as I know wine has always been a part of my life. Growing up in the Winelands of South Africa and studying at Stellenbosch University seemed to prepare me for the road ahead. Armed with a business and law degree, by chance I fell into the wine industry 20 odd years ago. It led me on a fascinating journey into the world of wine, from working in cellar at a world famous South African winery to a wine shop in the United Kingdom to being involved in selling and establishing wine markets in 26 countries. During this time, I traveled to Japan, Brazil and many countries in between, while furthering my education at the Cape Wine Academy and the Wine, Spirits and Education Trust in London. Through these experiences I saw the need to curate bespoke wine tours that showcase the very best of what South Africa has to offer. It would be a great pleasure to create a bespoke tour for you!
When not in the office, you will find me spending time with my family, enjoying a leisurely lunch at a winery or taking on a long distance running excursion.
First wine memory
Having a sip of KWV Steen at my grandfather’s house at the age of five.
Most memorable wine
There have been many over the years. If I have to choose one though, it would be Krug 1989. It made my world seem to be in harmony. I was flat broke at the time and the British winter was not helping!
Favourite South African wine
How long is a piece of string? We have incredible ancient soils and many different meso climates in South Africa which allows for wonderful different expressions of noble cultivars . At the moment I am really enjoying old bush vine chenins, but with 650 wineries on our doorstep, the options are endless.
